Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

We are seeking an experienced  Purview Specialist to implement and manage our enterprise data governance, cataloging, and compliance solutions. You will configure Purview to automate data discovery, classification, lineage tracking, and policy enforcement across hybrid multicloud environments. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in Purview with proven ability to improve data visibility and reduce compliance risks.
 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

 

  • Implementation & Configuration
      - Deploy and customize Microsoft Purview Data Map for unified metadata management  
      - Configure automated scanning of structured/unstructured data across Azure, AWS, on-premises  
      - Set up sensitive data classification using built-in/machine learning classifiers  
  • Data Governance
      - Design and enforce data retention, access policies, and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA)  
      - Establish end-to-end lineage tracking for critical data assets  
      - Integrate with Microsoft 365 Compliance Center for DLP and insider risk management  
  • Operations & Optimization
      - Monitor Purview insights and generate governance KPI reports  
      - Troubleshoot scanning/classification issues and performance bottlenecks  
      - Train business users on self-service data discovery via Purview Studio  
  • Collaboration
      - Work with security teams to remediate data risks  
      - Partner with data engineers to embed Purview into pipelines (Azure Data Factory, Synapse)  
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (formerly Azure Purview)  
  • Expertise in data cataloging, metadata management, and information protection
  • Proficient in SQL, PowerShell, and REST APIs for automation 
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) 
  • Microsoft Certified: Purview Specialist (SC-400) or equivalent 
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) and Sensitive Data Types, Background in data engineering (Azure Data Services, Spark, etc.), Familiarity with collibra, alation, or other data governance tools
